STATEMENT OF FAITH
of Windy Gap Evangelical Presbyterian Church
We believe that the 66 books of the canonized Bible, from Genesis 1:1 where God created the heavens and the earth through Revelation 22:21 where John proclaimed that Jesus will return, are the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God.[1]
We believe that there is only one true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.[2]
We believe in the absolute deity of Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His necessary death; His resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of God the Father; in the assurance of His return to reign in power and glory on earth as in heaven.[3]
We believe that salvation is a gift of God because of His incredible love for humankind and is received by man through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin. We believe that man is justified by grace through faith apart from works.[4]
We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin and brings new life to those who are spiritually dead. It is also through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that Christians are able to live a godly life.[5]
We believe in the resurrection of all, both saved and unsaved; those who are saved will be resurrected to eternity in the very presence of a holy, just God, and those who are not will be resurrected to eternal condemnation.[6]
We believe in the spiritual unity of the believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe we are called by Jesus to live out our faith as a body called the church.[7]
We believe in calling all men and women to repentance in Christ, making disciples of all nations, and loving everyone with the love of God. It is because of this love we are compelled to reach out to the world for Christ and that without this love we have no right to call ourselves Christians.[8]
